Linnea's Third Week

Kelly left on Linnea’s 2-week birthday, and we miss her dearly. Thank you so much Kelly for all the help with Linnea, household chores, and everything!

We took Linnea on her first walk to lake next too our house.

She and I played on the grass together,

but she wasn’t so thrilled,

until we started heading back home.

Linnea has been eating well … very well.

Quiet time

with baby burrito.

Another morning walk.

Leave … me … alone.

Naptime with a tired mommy.

…VERY well.

Can I PLEASE lick her head? PLEEEEASE?

The end of Linnea's 2nd week

Cute and cuddly baby or…

Baby Gangsta!

Tired of the paparazzi.

Break time.

Hanging out with Grandma.

Playing with Mom.

Hmm... how will I keep them awake tonight?

A first smile?

Couldn't quite catch it on camera.

Chatting with Grandma.

Family time.

We think she may be practicing THE CLAW already.

Linnea's first hike!

Settling In

Linnea and her adoring grandmother.

The Goodnight Moon pillow that Kelly made inspired Linnea to pick up reading in her spare time (just kidding).

The Pooh team watch over her (and inspire her digestion) while she sleeps.

I'm hungry...

What didn’t you understand about I’m hungry!

Some people.

Linnea’s first walk in the BOB stoller!

She’s still growing into the stroller.

Sometimes nothing will wake her.

Sometimes there’s no way to get her to sleep!

She’s got that look again…

First Encounter… da da da dum.

Shhhh...

Lander and I took a break from the house and headed up into the hills.

We had a lot of fun,

and we made it all the way up to the Devil’s thumb. Then, the devil came after us and sent Lander plunging into a 10-foot deep hole from which he had to be rescued (sorry no embarrassing photos). Luckily he was fine and made it back down to the house (mostly) on his own 4 feet.

Back home and trying to lick the baby again.

Linnea tries out her new baby bjorn seat!

Um...

Hmm...

Let me see here...

Approval!

But not very approving of this.

Linnea Comes Home

The sleepy Linnea was wrapped up in Maile leaves soon after coming home to give her an appetite for the smell of the Hawaiian rain forest.

Lander has been very curious about Linnea (and horrified by her cries),

and we have been careful not to let him get TOO close.

We’re all still getting used to the changing table.

She’s not sure how she feels about her snow leopard print suit,

but we love it.

Kapa’s found a new home as well.

Apparently this blanket is just too soft for her taste.

After some shopping, Maren and Kelly managed to find some tiny clothes that will fit Linnea for the next few weeks.

Woohoo, and she seems to love them.

Kelly says that Linnea looks so much like Maren as a baby in this photo that if she didn’t know better she could be convinced that it was Maren.

Linnea's Birth

On August 2nd, we checked in at the Boulder Community Hospital (for the second time),

This time we were given a room with a mountain view, so we were pretty sure it was the real thing.

On Sunday August 3, 2008 at 4:26 am, Linnea Elizabeth Niemack was born!

She was 11 days early and weighed in at 6 pounds 12 ounces and 19 inches long.

Mom was thrilled to finally hold Linnea in her arms, and (understandably) completely exhausted.

After some rest, Dad and Linnea got to know each other a little better,

and we kept her nice and cozy in her double swaddling and hat.

So far Linnea has maintained a slight pout almost all the time when she is not crying;

maybe so that we are sure not to think that she's being spoiled in any way.

Later that evening, Linnea's first pair of grandparents came out to visit from Steamboat Springs.

Pat repeatedly cooed her from crying into a very calm state.

That night we got a little more rest, although, much of the time the new parents were ogling and cuddling their new baby when they should have been sleeping.

Monday morning, Grandma Kelly arrived from Hawaii to meet her first grandaughter (and first great grandaughter for Kelly's mother, Ani).

By the afternoon, we were ready to take baby Linnea home,

She was a bit skeptical of her new mode of transportation ...

but accepting.
